This blog is gonna be about our Immortality run and a few things surrounding it.

We had been trying to complete A Tribute to Immortality for around a month before we finally managed to beat all the encounters in Trial of the Grand Crusader without a single death. For me personally it was a big relief when we finally managed to get it, and I'm pretty sure it was to most of our members as well. Trying to get this achievement has basically been like being stuck on the same boss for a month. It also put our raiders under a lot of pressure since no one wants to be the guy or girl to fuck up during an Immortal run.

Anyway, there hasn't been that much hype about this Achievement and I don't even know if all of you that read this will even know what the hell I'm talking about. I find that pretty strange since it's easily the hardest thing to achieve in the history in World of Warcraft. Personally, it wouldn't surprise me if less than 5 guilds get this achievement before Icecrown is released, tbh it wouldn't even surprise me if we're the only ones. That's how hard it is. It's basically the ultimate test of skill, teamwork and awareness. Yes, I'm saying that we are the best guild! Hehe!

Sadly I don't have any screenshots from our Immortalality run, but I'll do a short write up on how it went down. It was on a Sunday, the 1st of November. You might ask yourself why on a Sunday? That way another guild could have killed it that week before you! We had a few reasons for that. It gave us time to clear all other content such as 10 man hardmode and 25 man normal ToC to gear up before our Immortal run. Our server also has a tendency to lag slightly on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so it wasn't worth the risk to do it on those days. The last and most important reason was that we weren't exactly afraid that another guild would manage to do it. And so we felt like we had all the time in the world to prepare for it every week.

Oh yeah, the run. We obviously started out with the Northrend Beasts. An encounter that we never really had any problems with. There aren't really any random elements to this fight that can kill you. The only way to die here is if someone fucks up big time. I can only remember one death on this encounter during our Immortal runs and that was when a certain rogue used his killing spree at the wrong time during the worms. I don't remember the exact details. Why don't you ask our pro rogues.

Next up: Lord Jaraxxus. The easiest encounter in the instance. Same deal here, no random elements that can kill you. However, we managed to fail Immortality once on this encounter. Our lovely dpsers didn't do their job on the portal and we managed to get a 2nd spawn which basically never ever happens. At the same time the tank that was supposed to grab it forgot to do so, and a certain mage attacked it and fell to the ground. Which brings me to a question. Do you blame the DPS or the tank for failing the immortality there? The DPS failed to kill the portal before the second add spawned. Something that can't happen if all the DPS swap to it which they have been told to do. However the tank only had one job in the raid and that was to grab the 2nd add if we ever fucked up and got one. So who do you blame? The DPSers, the tank or all involved? smile

Faction Champions. Probably the second hardest encounter after Anub'Arak on an Immortality run. The difficulty here can change as well, depending on what setup of adds you face. Which brings me to something extremely funny. The second the news came out about Ensidia getting Immortality half of the comments on various webpages said that we were lucky with the adds on Faction Champions and didn't get many of the physical dpsers. Something that is far from the truth, in fact in our Immortality run we actually got the hardest possible setup. We had every single physical dps that you can get. Warrior, Rogue, Enhancement Shaman, Retribution Paladin, Death Knight and Hunter. We had never experienced this setup before and we couldn't believe how unlucky we were. But with a change of tactics we managed to pull through without a single death.

Anyway, this encounter can be a bit random when doing Immortality. If you don't do an awesome job controlling the fight then someone will get 3-4 adds on them at some point and then it's over.

Next up, the Twin Val'Kyrs. It was the third time we reached them while still being eligible for Immortality. The previously two times we actually failed on the Twins. Something that I found pretty frustrating since my personal view on them is that they are pretty simple on an Immortality run and just like Northrend Beasts and Lord Jaraxus there aren't really any random elements that can kill you. On the other hand, you can get a bit unlucky with balls and such, but everything is avoidable in my opinion. You often hear a lot of excuses on this boss. Uum the ball came from nowhere, I didn't get healed, blablabla. As long as your soakers do their job and everyone swaps colors correctly and avoid the few balls that get through then no one should really die on this boss. But we kept our nerves together and got to Anub'Arak for the first time ever without a single death on any of the previos bosses.

Now we stood infront of Anub'Arak and I felt freaking confident that we would make it. Something that I had felt throughout the whole run, I just felt that we would make it that day but it wasn't something I wanted to share with the raid cause then I'd definitely jinx it. Then something horrible happened just before the pull. Someone on vent said that his friend's guild on the server had terrible lag on Anub'Arak just as we were pumped up and about to pull it. At the same time someone said "LAAG" in general chat... Christ, why now?!?! We discussed the cons and pros for a few minutes. The pros: We didn't have Buzzkill in the raid. Everyone had been performing totally awesomely during the whole run and absolutely everyone was pumped up to do it right now. Something that we probably wouldn't be if we came back another day. So we said fuck it! Then we pulled hoping that it wouldn't lag... luckily it didn't, and several minutes later we had completed A Tribute to Immortality World first. I must say that the last 30% was CRAAZZZYYY on our Immortality run. You see everyone's health at 10-30% and just pray to god that the healers manage to heal everyone with penetrating cold in time.
